karmicdragonflyNearly every morning, a Song Sparrow out front starts his day with a call that sounds a lot like the intro to Beethoven's Fifth. I think it's pretty adorable that they make this sound. And it seems to only be just before sunrise -- I never hear the same sound the rest of the day, so it's like this bird's morning song 🙂
You will have to turn your volume way up to hear this. I was standing inside (in my bedroom). But pretty much every morning when it's still dark, I hear this -- Link to track on SoundCloud
Sparrows are so small and well camouflaged that I have a hard time finding them in trees, but around mid-day yesterday, I heard one singing outside (maybe the same one that makes the wake up call?) I searched from my upstairs window for a good while until I found the bird. This is a bad picture -- I was inside taking a shot through window screen, and I had to manually focus (the autofocus kept focusing on the screen).
It's pretty cool to wake up to the birdsong!
