Before the hard freeze coming this weekend, today was the biennial moving of my grandmother's lemon tree -- this time back inside for the winter. As I told my Portuguese speaking friend in the caption below, "The older I am, the harder it is to lift the grandmother lemon tree inside!" And I am NOT joking -- it is becoming harder.

I did remember to put the tree under the carport this year for a couple weeks prior to today to try to get the soil to dry out. It did dry some, but it needed longer to dry -- the leaves had not started drooping, so I know there was still plenty of water in the soil in the pot. Wet Soil = Heavy!
I keep some records of moves inside in the fall and outside in the spring. The tree averages about 223 days outside -- about 7.4 months. This year was pretty average at 221 days out.

In other news, I finished painting that old closet - the one that had the cracked plaster and dingy, stained wallpaper. It was one of the original items from my list when I first moved into this house and I had never done the work. You can see here how yucky it was!

My intent had been for a very very pale green, and it shocked me when I realized the paint color I had chosen was NOT pale -- but really just a sage green. I wasn't too enthused about it at first, but the color has grown on me as I put stuff back into the closet.
